Justus began designing outdoor equipment for Ski Hut / Trailwise. Alternatively in 1966 he bought into a small startup known as “The North Face”. Justus became head designer at “The North Face” but that did not last. He went out on his own and started “Class-5” in 1971. He designed highest quality equipage including down sleeping bags. He brought with him sewers from “Trailwise”. The original sewers were co-equal creators of the new company. The early “Class-5” labels identified the sewers.
